Desk work is not bad for the body because it is sitting. It is bad because it is sitting in the same position, with the same handful of muscles in the same shortened state, for hours every day. Five movements, done daily, fix most of it.
The desk-bound body, by the numbers, and the short list that fixes most of it.
8.5 hrs

Daily protocol that runs the whole list start to finish.
01 · Couch stretch
KneeEd · Movement
Hip flexor opener. Place one knee on the floor with the foot resting on a couch behind you. Tuck the pelvis. Hold 60 to 90 seconds per side. The single most leveraged movement on this list.
02 · 90/90 hip switch
KneeEd · Movement
Sit on the floor with both knees at 90 degrees, one in front, one to the side. Switch sides slowly. Restores rotational range to a joint that desk-sitting drains.
03 · Glute bridge
KneeEd · Movement
Lie on your back, knees bent. Drive through the heels and lift the hips. Hold 2 seconds at the top. Wakes up the glute that has been off all day.
04 · Cat-cow
KneeEd · Movement
On hands and knees, alternate arching and rounding the spine. Six slow cycles. Restores segmental motion the spine loses in a chair.
05 · Wall thoracic opener
KneeEd · Movement
Stand a forearm's distance from a wall, place the elbow on the wall at shoulder height, and rotate away. Opens the upper back that rounds at a screen.
